What your practice receives

Direct candidate sourcing, a shortlist of 3–5 pre-screened candidates and billing that begins after applicants are sent to you. BEGHR handles your account and invoices, issued at least monthly during billable service delivery. A 45-day replacement provision applies under the engagement terms. Your practice interviews the candidates and hires the successful veterinarian directly.

Veterinary roles we recruit

Who does your practice
need to hire?

Choose the recruitment service for your vacancy, from a general-practice associate to a specialist or multi-hospital leader.

For Louisville veterinary employers

One metro, several local governments.
Specific hospital assignments.

A Highlands associate role, a Jeffersontown medical director search and a Shelbyville equine appointment need different briefs. Start with the hospital address, county, clinical resources and schedule, then agree the search with BEGHR.

Associate veterinarians

Specify independent procedures, appointment capacity and doctor overlap. If recruiting a new graduate, name the supervising veterinarian and protect teaching time; Kentucky lets a qualified applicant awaiting national exam results work under a special permit only under the direct supervision of a Kentucky-licensed veterinarian.

Plan an associate search →

Specialist and emergency appointments

Define the discipline, required credentials, shift pattern and resources already available. Explain referral communication, overnight staffing and inpatient handover, and name the technicians who support the shift.

Scope a specialist role →

Medical and regional leadership

List the hospitals and decision authority. Name the registered responsible party and the veterinarian manager for each facility, separate clinical workload from protected time for coaching and clinical standards, and set out how tasks are delegated to technicians.

Define a medical director role →

Put the hospital address, city and county in the brief.

Use the actual work address, the municipality, the county and any additional facilities. Do not present a Shelbyville or La Grange vacancy as interchangeable with a Highlands hospital. A rotating role should state which days belong to which site and whether movement between sites happens between working days or during a clinical shift.

Keep one clear decision process.

Choose the clinical and operational interviewers, confirm the employer-approved package and identify who can authorize an offer. Use the same role-related criteria for every candidate and give one person responsibility for feedback. Confirm the candidate’s Kentucky license status and the Board’s Kentucky law examination before a start date is set. Review the hiring brief and candidate scorecard before outreach.

Choose the service that matches the vacancy.

This is permanent placement for employers. Your practice hires the selected candidate directly. An immediate relief shift needs a separate arrangement; this service does not promise a locum available today. Job seekers can start with BEGHR’s veterinary placement page; the pricing form here is for employer inquiries.

Louisville veterinary hiring context for employers

The Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners’ regulations require a veterinarian to complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years, with at least 15 hours live, at least two hours on pharmacy, antimicrobials or veterinary law, and no more than ten on practice management. Kentucky requires a passing score on a Board examination on Kentucky veterinary law for new applicants, and its statute requires an endorsement applicant to have practiced in another jurisdiction for at least a year immediately before applying. Kentucky’s facility regulation required existing veterinary facilities to be registered with the Board by June 30, 2025, each registration names a registered responsible party and a veterinarian manager, and a new facility may not begin operating until the Board accepts its application and notifies the applicant in writing. Auburn University states that Kentucky has a contractual agreement under which Auburn reserves 38 seats for Kentucky residents in each class of 130, and the Council on Postsecondary Education approved a Murray State doctoral program in veterinary medicine in January 2026 whose first cohort could be admitted as early as fall 2028 if it is accredited. O*NET OnLine, citing Bureau of Labor Statistics 2025 wage data, lists higher median annual wages for veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants in the Louisville/Jefferson County area, which includes Indiana counties, than in Kentucky overall, and lower than the United States medians. The same state rules apply to every Louisville employer, so confirm them before the Louisville search starts.

  • Continuing education support: state the paid days for the 15 live hours Kentucky requires in each two-year period, and say which course costs the practice pays.
  • Kentucky law examination and start date: a new applicant or an endorsement applicant passes the Board’s examination on Kentucky law, so keep the offer date, the application date and the start date separate.
  • Facility registration: name the registered responsible party and the veterinarian manager for each hospital, and say who reports a manager change to the Board within ten days.
  • Technician and assistant tasks: Kentucky lists emergency tasks a licensed technician may perform under indirect supervision and tasks a veterinary assistant may not be assigned, so list who does what.
  • Hospital type: say whether the role sits in general practice, around-the-clock emergency or specialty referral, because Louisville hospitals describe all three models on their own sites.

Market context is attributed to Kentucky continuing education regulation (201 KAR 16:590), Kentucky examination requirements (201 KAR 16:530), Kentucky endorsement statute (KRS 321.221), Kentucky veterinary facility registration (201 KAR 16:762), Kentucky veterinary facility statute (KRS 321.236), Kentucky technician and assistant scope (201 KAR 16:750), Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine on Kentucky students, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education on Murray State, O*NET OnLine Kentucky veterinarian wages, O*NET OnLine Kentucky veterinary technician wages, O*NET OnLine Kentucky veterinary assistant wages, VEG Louisville hospital page, BluePearl Louisville hospital page and Jefferson Animal Hospitals. These are third-party and state sources, not BEGHR claims.

Plan Kentucky credential checks before the start date.

Use the Kentucky Office of Occupations and Professions license verification for the relevant professional record. Kentucky licenses veterinarians and veterinary technicians through the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners under KRS Chapter 321. Assign a person to verify license status and the expiration date, record the verification date and resolve questions with the Board. Check any additional specialty credentials required by the employer with the issuing organization.

For a candidate moving from another state, review the Kentucky veterinary licensure application regulation (201 KAR 16:540). Do not treat an out-of-state license or a preferred start date as confirmation that Kentucky requirements are satisfied. Kentucky requires a passing score on the Board’s examination on Kentucky law, and an endorsement applicant must have practiced in another jurisdiction for at least one year immediately before applying. The Board determines eligibility and timing; BEGHR does not issue licenses.

For examination, endorsement and continuing education rules, see the Kentucky examination regulation (201 KAR 16:530) and the Kentucky endorsement statute (KRS 321.221) and the Kentucky continuing education regulation (201 KAR 16:590).

Veterinary recruitment coverage

Louisville and
surrounding communities.

A Louisville veterinary search works best when the hospital address comes before the city label. The Census Bureau lists the Louisville/Jefferson County metro government plus 83 incorporated cities inside Jefferson County, and Oldham, Bullitt, Shelby and Spencer counties each have their own cities and county offices. Business Executive Group uses the employer’s role, schedule and location to scope a permanent search.

Name the street address, municipality and county, and keep Louisville neighborhoods separate from the small cities around them. Prospect appears in both Jefferson and Oldham counties in the Census file, so a Prospect address needs its county. Fern Creek, Okolona, Pleasure Ridge Park and Valley Station are communities that LOJIC lists as 2000 Census Designated Places and that the 2020 Census file does not list as places. Coverage on this site is limited to Kentucky; a hospital in Indiana falls under a different licensing authority.

Central Louisville neighborhoods

LOJIC’s Urban Neighborhoods layer lists Highlands, Crescent Hill, Germantown, Old Louisville and dozens of other neighborhoods within the pre-merger City of Louisville, and Butchertown, Clifton, Schnitzelburg and Portland are separate names in that layer. Give the street address and the neighborhood the hospital uses, and list a second site on its own line.

East Louisville and Shelbyville Road

St. Matthews, Lyndon, Hurstbourne, Middletown, Anchorage and Prospect are separate incorporated cities inside Jefferson County, each with its own boundary within the consolidated Louisville Metro government. Prospect also reaches into Oldham County. A Shelbyville Road address can carry a Louisville mailing address while sitting in St. Matthews city, so give the city and the street address.

South and southeast Jefferson County

Jeffersontown and Shively are incorporated cities, while Fern Creek and Okolona are communities that LOJIC lists as 2000 Census Designated Places and that are not Census places today. Name the street address and say whether the hospital is inside a city or in the Louisville Metro balance.

Southwest Jefferson County

Pleasure Ridge Park, Valley Station and Fairdale are communities that LOJIC lists as 2000 Census Designated Places, and none is a Census place in 2020. Use the street address, and list any Shively or Okolona site separately.

Oldham County

La Grange, Crestwood and Pewee Valley are separate incorporated cities in Oldham County, and Prospect reaches into the county from Jefferson County. Oldham County Animal Services runs county dog licensing, and its veterinarians sell the license with the rabies tag, so an Oldham County hospital works under county rules that differ from Jefferson County’s.

Bullitt County

Shepherdsville, Mount Washington and Hillview are separate incorporated cities in Bullitt County, which has its own county government. Census boundary data shows Mount Washington and Hillview each bordering the Louisville Metro balance. State the city and street address so a Bullitt County role is not read as a Louisville Metro one.

Shelby and Spencer counties

Shelbyville and Simpsonville are incorporated cities in Shelby County, and Taylorsville is a city in Spencer County, according to the Census Bureau’s Kentucky place-by-county file. USDA’s 2022 county profiles rank Shelby County 8th among Kentucky counties for horse sales. Name the county and the street address for each role.

Employer questions

Veterinary recruiting questions

Which veterinary positions can Louisville employers recruit through BEGHR?

The service covers permanent associate veterinarians, veterinary specialists, emergency DVMs, surgery appointments, medical directors and regional veterinary leaders. Search fit depends on the role, clinical requirements and employer brief. The practice makes the final hiring decision.

Is this for employers hiring veterinarians or for job applications?

This website is for practice owners and employer hiring teams seeking permanent veterinary staff. Its form requests a hiring brief and returns a placement estimate after employer opt-in. It is not an open-jobs directory or a candidate application form.

How does milestone billing work?

Agree the role, estimated fee range, billable milestones and payment terms before the search begins. Recruiting uses an hourly, pay-as-you-go model within the agreed range. BEGHR’s published placement process starts billing after applicants are sent. Invoices follow the agreed cadence, at least monthly during billable service delivery. BEGHR handles client billing and account questions.

Do we pay if a search does not result in a hire?

Milestone billing pays for agreed work as the search progresses, so completed billable milestones may still be payable without a placement. Your client agreement specifies the billing triggers, amounts, due dates and any cancellation terms.

Where can we see our placement price?

Select your role, complete the hiring questions and submit your employer contact details through the pricing form to receive an estimated fee range. BEGHR confirms the role classification, final fee and payment milestones before you engage the service.

How long does placement take?

BEGHR’s placement timeframe is 23–55 days. Timing depends on the role, candidate availability and the employer’s hiring process.

How does BEGHR pricing compare with contingency recruiting?

BEGHR offers placement at typically 50% less than contingency recruiting and 50% off second and subsequent hires for the same role. Use the pricing form for an estimate and confirm your fee and repeat-hire eligibility before starting.

What fill rate does BEGHR report?

BEGHR reports 86% fill rate on active searches across its placement service. This provider-wide figure is not a city-specific or veterinary-only result and does not guarantee an individual hiring outcome.

Who receives my employer inquiry?

Business Executive Group receives your contact information, selected roles, qualification answers, placement estimate and the originating website and page through its existing BEGHR lead intake. This is an employer inquiry, not a candidate job application.

How are placement fees confirmed?

The instant-pricing form uses BEGHR’s role categories and current retail ranges to show an estimate after you submit your employer details. The provider confirms the actual category, scope, payment milestones and commercial terms before a search engagement begins.
